Paul was confident. He said so twice.[1]
But his confidence was not in himself. He was confident because he knew that God had wrought or made him for the purpose of life swallowing up mortality.[2]
He knew the purpose of God was more than a few years on earth.- He knew that God had created him to live forever.
- He knew that death, whenever it came, would only usher in this life God had created him to experience.
- He knew that when this tabernacle we currently reside in dissolves, there is a house awaiting us in heaven.[3]
- He knew to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.
Knowing these, he was confident to deliver the Word of God in whatever circumstance.
[1] 2 Corinthians 5:8 (KJV)
We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.
[2] 2 Corinthians 5:4 (KJV)
For we that are in this tabernacle do groan, being burdened: not for that we would be unclothed, but clothed upon, that mortality might be swallowed up of life.
[3] 2 Corinthians 5:1 (KJV)
For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.
