To whom hast thou uttered words? and whose spirit came from thee?
The first word in this chapter is “But.” It is Job’s answer to Bildad, and it is in direct relation to an in conflict with what Bildad has said. Interestingly, some of Bildad’s words sound remarkably like what Job had said previously. It’s not with what he says that Job has the controversy.
Job cautions Bildad with two things in our text.
To whom hast thou uttered words?
I assume Bildad believed he spoke to Job. However, he had forgotten that there was an essential other Person in the audience.
We ought never to forget that God hears and takes personally every word we say.
Whose spirit came from thee?
Was Job accusing Bildad of saying the right words but from the wrong spirit? The serpent used God’s Words against Eve. Bildad needed to be concerned that the devil was doing the very same against Job through him
Every word we speak ought to be always with grace, seasoned with salt.
