Job 23:11 (KJV) What To Do

Job 23:11 (KJV)

My foot hath held his steps, his way have I kept, and not declined.

Job’s circumstances were challenging to say the least. Perhaps no man has suffered worse. We read his words, and some would say he was complaining before the Lord (Job even calls it a complaint) but mark this. He was not murmuring against the Lord.

In such a state, it is understandable that his words are hard for us to bear, difficult for us, who are not in such trouble, to comprehend. Perhaps at times, Job could not understand them either. But he didn’t need to; God was speaking through him.

One great lesson is on what to do when we are in terrible trouble. Job tells us to hold to His Steps. Not our own but to the Lord’s. When we can’t see Him to the front or the back or the left or the right, just stay in His footsteps. Just don’t move away from His footprint. Surely any such move would be a step down.
