Judas saith unto him, not Iscariot, Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself unto us, and not unto the world?
Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.
The disciple’s question is a legitimate one and one we must address frequently. “Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself unto us, and not unto the world?” We face this constant conflict with the world because we can see Jesus, He has manifested Himself to us, but they cannot.
How does He show Himself to us and not to the world?
There is the peace that He gives.
It makes us unique because there should not be this peace in conflict, yet God gives it. Those of the world cannot understand that.
There is the Comforter
He dwells within us and witnesses to our spirit. But, though we can tell people we have that, we cannot prove it to them.
The focus of my thought just now is the Word of God
Christ manifests Himself to us through the Bible. We see Him. We hear Him. We find directions from Him in the Bible. For us, the Bible is not an ancient Book written thousands of years ago. It is a new book written for us and our time and circumstances. Christ is alive. He is not dead but resurrected. He speaks to us. He manifests Himself to us every time we come to Him through the Bible.
Only the child of God gets that.
