Thus saith the LORD of hosts; There shall yet old men and old women dwell in the streets of Jerusalem, and every man with his staff in his hand for very age.
And the streets of the city shall be full of boys and girls playing in the streets thereof.
Two signs of God’s blessing would be older people openly gathered and children playing in the streets.
It’s a mark of safety
They are not afraid to be out.
It’s a mark of stability
The elderly symbolizes longevity and establishment.
It’s a sign of hope
Children reveal there is a future.
It’s a sign of prosperity
Wherever there are seniors and children, there are those in between driving an economy. I notice that they are not “in the streets.” It’s because they are in the fields, the factories, and the offices at work.
I notice there is no mention of the homeless and vagrants. There are always poor people. It’s a bad sign when their numbers are more evident than the others.
