And Moses verily was faithful in all his house, as a servant, for a testimony of those things which were to be spoken after;
The analogy is of
- A builder
- A house and
- An occupant
The house is an essential. It’s a blessing. The house is representative of the builder, and therefore the builder has more honor than the house. To faithfully occupy the house is to honor the builder, not the house.
- God is the builder
- Moses’ life is the house
- Moses occupies that life
By being faithful in his life, Moses honored God and was a testimony to others.
Jesus’ house is His body, the local church, composed of born-again believers.
As faithful members of that house, we honor Jesus Christ, who is both the builder and the possessor of it. It is so easy to become deceived by sin, and hardened, that faithful membership in a local church requires we are sensitive to the appeals of others. An evil heart of unbelief may not cause us to lose salvation. That’s impossible. But it will cause us to fail as partakers in Jesus’s house and lose the rewards and blessings of it.
