Hebrews 8:8 (KJV) Finding Fault

Hebrews 8:8 (KJV)

For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah:

The Old Testament Law, here called a covenant, was never intended to make the practitioners righteous. The point was to prove to them.

  • The high cost of sin
  • The hopelessness of earning salvation

It was meant to serve as a schoolmaster and to bring them to Christ.

It could have done nothing else but find fault. Its point was to find fault.

The trouble was that Israel didn’t get it.

God found fault with them because they could not find the fault with the law.

Rest assured that God will find fault with any attempt by man to be righteous outside of Jesus.

Perfect righteousness only exists when we are completely hidden in Christ.
