For the LORD thy God hath blessed thee in all the works of thy hand: he knoweth thy walking through this great wilderness: these forty years the LORD thy God hath been with thee; thou hast lacked nothing.
Thou hast lacked nothing.
This is a fantastic observation. Consider the circumstances:
- They were a multitude of people numbering almost certainly in the millions
- They had begun this journey as slaves, expelled suddenly from Egypt
- They had been in a wilderness world where little opportunity for productive employment was available
- They had experienced periods where food and water were in short supply
- They had lost an entire generation due to unbelief
- They had been at this a full forty years
And still, they had lacked nothing.
I take comfort and encouragement that God will see that we lack nothing we need in whatever our earthly wanderings may make us face.
