Say I these things as a man? or saith not the law the same also?
Though, in this very chapter, he would say he had made himself a servant of all men that he might win some of them, we know almost everyone attacked him.[1]
- Gentiles
- Jews and
- Professing believers
In this, he becomes relatable to preachers who feel pressure from all sides.
- People without the church
- People within the church
- People of other faiths
- Preachers he may fellowship with
One of the challenges often leveled against the preacher is that he’s just giving his own opinions.
Apostle Paul sensed that same accusation in this text. He’s speaking sense. It ought not to be difficult to understand both the reasonableness of his words and the meaning of them. But he knew human nature and had been attacked enough to know someone would lay charges against him.
So, he supported his words with the Word.
The preacher preaches the Word of God and, as he does so, supports the Word by the Word to avoid accusations.

That I may be delivered from them that do not believe in Judaea; and that my service which I have for Jerusalem may be accepted of the saints;
