But I have trusted in thy mercy; my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation.
I will sing unto the LORD, because he hath dealt bountifully with me.
This is a short Psalm, but it’s not a positive one. Four out of these six verses find the Psalmist pleading to God.
Then come verse five and the conjunction, “But.”
That little term turns everything around. Just one word, and the situation flips right side up.
The Psalmist provides three keys to victory during trials
- Trust
- Rejoice
- Sing
Trust
in God’s mercy
Rejoice
in God’s salvation
Sing
because of God’s bounty
Mercy
You could have it so much worse
Salvation
You have a relationship with God
Bountifully
God has given you all of heaven
