Psalms 123:1 (KJV)

Unto thee lift I up mine eyes, O thou that dwellest in the heavens.

There are any number of Biblical titles for the Lord. Charles Spurgeon is known to have referred to him as “my well-beloved” from the Song of Solomon. Here is a precious name we might seldom think of. It is, however, packed with meaning.

Thou
God is a Person. He is not a feeling, emotion or “force.” God is a Person in every way that we are persons, except that we are in His image and not the other way around.

• God hears
• God thinks
• God moves
• God plans
• God Speaks
• God is emotional

He is not as the gods of the heathens who have hands that cannot work, feet that cannot move, eyes that cannot see, ears that cannot hear and a mouth that cannot speak.

Dwellest
God is everywhere – omnipresent. At the same time He is partial to particular spaces.

• He sat on the mercy seat of the Tabernacle.
• He inhabited the Tabernacle and later the Temple
• He indwells the New Testament believer and
• He calls the local church His house

The heavens
That space that is uniquely His is heaven.

He has invited the redeemed to dwell with Him there eternally.[1]
