For thou shalt eat the labour of thine hands: happy shalt thou be, and it shall be well with thee.
I understand “fearing the Lord” as synonymous with submission to Him. There is a kind of rest for the soul that can only be experienced by those who come to submit to and trust in the directing hand of God them. It is this submission the people of the world so despise. They are consumed with control. They are driven to succeed, to make a name for themselves. They find their fulfillment, or else their disappointments in the success of their campaigns.
They also cause great harm through it.
James 4:1-2 (KJV)
From whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members?
Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not.
The Bible teaches, Psalms 128:1 (KJV)
Blessed is every one that feareth the LORD; that walketh in his ways.
It is a happy soul who has learned to
–ask of the Lord for his bread,
–accept from the Lord his source of provision-whatever labor God puts in his hands to do, and is
–“well” with that
