And as he went out of the temple, one of his disciples saith unto him, Master, see what manner of stones and what buildings are here!
I’ve read that these stone were white marble and that Josephus records that many of them were 50 foot long and 24 foot broad. (Barnes). Jamieson Fausset Brown include Josephus says that six days battering during the siege had no impact upon them. Jamieson-Fausset -Brown says that these stones still remain and some of them are probably as old as Solomon’s Temple.
This, in my estimation, flies in the face of the preterist position. They claim that the prophecy of Olivet Discourse was fulfilled in the Roman destruction of Jerusalem in 70 AD. The fact is this prophecy, about the overturning of the stones, has yet to be finally fulfilled. The partial fulfillment in 70 AD serves only as a graphic representation of that final fulfillment.
The Bible says, 2 Peter 3:9-10 (KJV)
The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
The premillennialist position of a future and final fulfillment is the only one that makes sense of the whole Bible.
· It is a literal view
· It is a grammatical view
· It is a historical view
· It is the normal view
I believe the Bible for what it says. I’m looking for Jesus to come, as He promised.
