Exodus 15:17 (KJV)

Thou shalt bring them in, and plant them in the mountain of thine inheritance, in the place, O LORD, which thou hast made for thee to dwell in, in the Sanctuary, O Lord, which thy hands have established.

 

The waters of the Red Sea had only just defeated the Egyptians in the sight of Israel, but God’s plan was far from fully revealed, much less accomplished. The Israelites knew they were headed toward the land promised to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. They believed that God had delivered them from Egypt, and I assume they presumed He would have a plan for them when they arrived.

 

However, 

·       They knew nothing yet of Jerusalem and the mount where the Temple would be built.

·       They knew nothing of the Mount of Olives and the promises God would make relating to it.

·       They knew nothing about the tabernacle, the temple, or the Holy of Holies.

 

Further:

·       They knew nothing of Mount Calvary.

·       They knew nothing of the local church.

·   They knew nothing of the millennial kingdom.

·       They knew nothing of the New Jerusalem coming down from heaven.

They knew nothing of any of this. 

 

But God knew it all.

 

And so, the Word of God, breathed here, points to all of these and more.
