Hebrews 3:3 (KJV) This Man Jesus

Hebrews 3:3 (KJV)

For this man was counted worthy of more glory than Moses, inasmuch as he who hath builded the house hath more honour than the house.

This Man Jesus:

Is a Man

Verse one makes it clear that the man in reference is Jesus Christ. Hebrews 3:1 (KJV) says,  Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus.

I am particularly interested in Christ being called an Apostle here. The term means "sent." There are only twelve Apostles who are the foundation of the church, with Jesus Christ being the chief cornerstone. Barnabas is also called an apostle, but he is not one of the twelve. In his case, it is used in the sense of being a missionary. Jesus was sent from heaven to earth—the first missionary.

Is God

Verse four makes this clear. Hebrews 3:4 (KJV) states,

For every house is builded by some man; but he that built all things is God.

Every house is built by some man, but the man who built Moses is Jesus. The man Jesus built all things. The man Jesus is God.

This Man Jesus is Worthy

Don’t allow religious systems that make light of Jesus sway your thinking. Jesus isn’t merely a great prophet second to Mohammed. Jesus isn’t just a great teacher representing God. Jesus isn’t the created brother of Lucifer. Jesus isn’t a mortal man who was endued with the Spirit of God at death. Jesus isn’t a lesser god beneath God.

Jesus is:

- The second Person of the Godhead,

- All man and all God,

- Equal in essence, eternality, and attributes,

- The creator and sustainer of the world,

- God in flesh (incarnate),

- The Saviour of all those who come to Him.
