Revelation 6:15-16 (KJV)
And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains;
And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb.
The Tribulation will be a time of unimaginable devastation, beyond anything we can truly comprehend. The sun will go black, the moon will turn blood-red, stars will fall from the heavens, and the skies will roll up like a scroll. While we may picture earthquakes, tsunamis, hurricanes, or hailstorms—events already devastating in our world—this is something far beyond. Even the grandest disaster films, portraying meteors destroying cities, fail to capture the scale of destruction described here. No wealth, power, or influence will be enough to save anyone. Humanity will stand utterly helpless.
Some ask if this imagery is purely symbolic. Could such things really happen? I believe the answer is yes—it is not symbolic but real, as sure as the God who spoke the universe into existence.
Yet, there is one detail more staggering than the destruction itself. When this day of wrath comes, people will know it is God’s judgment. They will confess that it is His hand moving against them. But rather than repenting and turning to Him, they will beg the earth to hide them. They will call on mountains and rocks to shield them from the face of the Almighty and the wrath of the Lamb.
This reveals what I believe to be the tragic truth: there is no such thing as a true atheist. Deep down, every soul knows God exists. But many harden their hearts against Him, choosing hatred and rejection instead. They would rather trust in the earth—the very creation of God—than submit to its Creator. On that day, their rebellion will reach its tragic culmination as they seek to hide from the One they cannot escape.
