Colossians 1:6 (KJV)
Which is come unto you, as it is in all the world; and bringeth forth fruit, as it doth also in you, since the day ye heard of it, and knew the grace of God in truth:
Thank God the “truth of the gospel” came to the people of Colosse—and, as the apostle said, to all the world. The gospel truth, though supported by the work of the apostle, didn’t reach them through the apostle himself. Another man, Epaphras, brought the message there.
I am convinced he heard it preached by Paul in Ephesus, then carried it home to Colosse. The gospel message has no legs but ours, no mouth to speak but ours. God does not use rocks, rivers, or messages written in the clouds—though no doubt He could.
God does not send angels to carry the truth of the gospel,
though they are messengers and have important work of their own.
God does not broadcast gospel truths through skywriting,
though He has preserved His message in the written Word of God.
God does not use only great-name preachers,
though He has used them to build up, bolster, and expand gospel ministry.
God’s primary means of taking the truth of the gospel into all the world is through sincere, lowly, common people like you and me.
