Leviticus 24:22 (KJV) Biblical Equality vs. Cultural Equity

Leviticus 24:22 (KJV)

Ye shall have one manner of law, as well for the stranger, as for one of your own country: for I am the LORD your God.

We tend to be such respecters of persons.
Our nationality over another.
Our race over another.
Our heritage over another.

Or else we are respecters of the envious sort:
We think too highly of those with wealth.
We think too highly of those with education.
We think too highly of those with status.

One of the great problems our nation faces these days has to do with what is called “DEI” (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion). Those with liberal or progressive ideologies single out certain people—perceived to have been treated unfairly because of race, gender, or background—and treat them by a different set of rules than those perceived to be “privileged.” It’s a form of being a respecter of persons.

God taught the Jews—and it is a principle that should be applied to all people in all times—to have “one manner of law, as well for the stranger, as for one of your own country.”

Law, evenly applied:

Protects equally from dangers,

Provides equal opportunities for advancement, and

Permits equally liberty of conscience and free will.

To give a particular group of people an unfair advantage robs others of their basic human rights. But it also robs those with the unfair advantage of the dignity of their humanity.

A free handout has never served as a hand up.
