Revelation 1:6 (KJV)
And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
It is one of those wonderful blessings of salvation. God does for us exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think.
- He purchases us from the market of sin.
- He delivers us from the dunghill of life.
- He rescues us from an eternity in hell.
- He adopts us as His own sons, joint-heirs with Christ.
- He makes us to be kings and priests.
And He does all of those things through no merit of our own. It is paid for in the blood of Jesus Christ—ours free for the trusting.
I see our gifts in this order: we are priests today, with full access to the throne of God, ministering as ambassadors of reconciliation between God and man. We will serve as kings in the Millennial Kingdom, ruling with Jesus Christ.
I’m afraid too many take advantage of God’s grace. Being made, according to God’s Word, kings and priests, some assume upon themselves the role of kings and overlords today. Even now, a fundamental Baptist missionary is working on a project to expose the abuses and cover-ups that happen too often in some circles of professing Independent Fundamental Baptists. (I’ve always maintained that particular group is really old-fashioned Methodists who dunk instead of sprinkle.) The authority, manipulation, and power moves among their elite are disturbing to say the least.
Our text has the answer: “unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.”
It has never been about us. It is always about Jesus Christ and God, His Father. Amen—that settles it.
Anything less is a man-made religion, contrived of the devil.

Serving Now, Reigning Later: From the Market of Sin to the Throne of God
God has made every believer a priest today and a king in the coming Millennial Kingdom—but it’s always unto Him and for His glory. The danger comes when we take what belongs to God and make it about ourselves.
