Job 42:9 (KJV)

So Eliphaz the Temanite and Bildad the Shuhite and Zophar the Naamathite went, and did according as the LORD commanded them: the LORD also accepted Job.

In the end of this event, Job did see the Lord more clearly than he ever had before. And, in the end, God had restored to Job everything he had lost. But one other great thing happened:

Job’s friends came to obey the Lord as well.

I’m thinking just now of the Apostle Paul in that shipwreck. He was there through no fault of his own.

• He had done nothing worthy of prison.
• He had urged them not to take the ship to sea.

But he was there nonetheless.

And it was through his faith that everyone survived, safe and back on land.

Everything Job endured led finally to his friends coming to know the Lord, to worship Him honestly, and to do as the Lord commanded them. Everything Job endured led finally to Job’s prayers on their behalf.

We can become so focused on ourselves and what we face, the outcomes of our decisions and the consequences of life’s struggles, that we lose focus of God’s work in others.

Stay true to the Lord in the midst of your troubles. See what God might do through your faith to bring others to faith.
