John 8:39 (KJV)
They answered and said unto him, Abraham is our father. Jesus saith unto them, If ye were Abraham's children, ye would do the works of Abraham.
The Jews were traditionally Abraham’s children. They were even genetically Abraham’s children. But they were not spiritually Abraham’s children.
Here is one of the great dangers of modern Christianity. We may assume we are believers, saved, and children of God because of our traditions or because of our heritage, and yet be anything but children of God in attitude, faith, practice, and most importantly, spirit.
Ye must be born again.
- One does not have to be raised in a Christian home to be a Christian.
- One does not have to know all the children’s choruses to be a Christian.
- One does not have to be born in a so-called Christian nation to be a Christian.
But one has to be born again to be a Christian.
And to be born again implies evidence of a new life. Something changes. Those who’ve been raised in a Christian environment might believe they are Christians simply because they’ve always accepted certain things as true, and they have always done certain things faithfully.
But what’s changed?
What about you is new since you’ve been born again?

The Danger of Inherited Faith: Evidence of Genuine Salvation
Are You Truly Born Again?
It's possible to grow up in church, know the Bible, and faithfully practice Christian traditions without ever experiencing the new birth.
Don't allow a Christian heritage to give you a false sense of security about your salvation.
Ask yourself today: Have I personally trusted Jesus Christ as my Saviour? And if I've been born again, what's changed in my life?
I invite you to read today's Daily Visit with God, share it with someone who needs this important reminder, and explore more Bible studies and resources at:
