John 2:12 KJV
After this he went down to Capernaum, he, and his mother, and his brethren, and his disciples: and they continued there not many days.
I was struck by the fact that when Jesus went from Cana to Capernaum, His mother and His brethren accompanied Him and His disciples.
This is not to say that they were with Jesus everywhere He went. But they were with Him, it seems, as much as not.
They sought to speak to Him in Matthew 12
They urged him to go to Jerusalem and did not believe in Him in John 7
His mother, of course, was there for His crucifixion and
His brothers James and Jude became leaders in Christianity
Even Christ's earthly family was key and vital to His ministry and to the future work of faith. Therefore we may extend that and say that our own earthly families are also key and vital to our ministries today and to the assurance that it extends to those generations of our families that will follow us.
And we may then interject the importance of having our families with us and emphasizing raising them to understand and receive the faith of the Lord Jesus Christ and then to surrender to serve the Lord with their lives.
