Three Things

1 Thessalonians 1:10 KJV
And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come.
Three keys in this verse:

There is a future wrath
Any man or woman is a fool to ignore the warnings of this wrath. It is inescapable and unavoidable. Nothing will prevent the wrath of God from being poured out in His time.

There is a deliverance offered.
The term is past tense. What Jesus did on the cross and in His resurrection is complete once and for all. There is no need of a new and improved Saviour. There is no need of a Saviour more modern and appealing to today's mankind. Because it is a past tense deliverance those of us who have received it know it. We do not concern ourselves with whether we have been delivered or not. It is done, finished.

There is a purpose for todayAnd that is that we wait for Jesus to come. Sure, there is more involved in it than sitting around; but there is that is the main thing but this thing. We wait for Jesus! We look for Him, we long for Him and we tell others about Him.
