2 Thessalonians 2:5 KJV
Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things?
Paul insists that these doctrines having to do with
• The last days
• The anti Christ and
• The timing of the Tribulation
had been taught them while Paul was still with them. But here he finds reason to tell them these things once again.
Admittedly they were under great stress. The persecution they experienced was intense and it is difficult to recall all we have been taught in times like that. So Paul reviewed it with them again.
And here is the reason we must read and carefully re-read the Bible again and again. We must hear sermon after sermon and lesson after lesson from the Word of God. The fact is we can't remember; not all of it anyway. And even what we do remember we can't always remember to apply it and flesh it out in life.
Humility calls us to review, rehearse, re-read God's Word so that we can remember.
