Daniel 9:16 KJV
O Lord, according to all thy righteousness, I beseech thee, let thine anger and thy fury be turned away from thy city Jerusalem, thy holy mountain: because for our sins, and for the iniquities of our fathers, Jerusalem and thy people are become a reproach to all that are about us.
There is great hope in this record of Daniel's prayer. Daniel, after studying the thing, confessed the terrible and great wickedness of Jerusalem.
• He knew they deserved the judgment they had faced.
• He knew Jerusalem was a shambles.
The city was in ruins, the people in captivity. And yet he prayed for God's face to shine upon it once again.
Regardless how badly a man may have ruined his life. No matter how deep he has taken himself into sin there is always hope and reason for a praying man to intercede for them. No darkness may ever fall upon a man that God's mercy cannot shine the light of grace upon them.
