The Preacher's Conflict

Colossians 2:1 KJV
For I would that ye knew what great conflict I have for you, and for them at Laodicea, and for as many as have not seen my face in the flesh;

I note first that his conflict is not with the government.
Though the government was a challenge to him and would eventually execute him, he had no conflict with them

Secondly his conflict was not with Judaism.
Though he preached that Christ sets a man free from the works of the Law and the Jews had a conflict with Paul, this was not what occupied his concern.

Thirdly his conflict was not for the lost.
Though he said he could wish himself accursed for his brethren to be saved, this was not the focus of the struggle Paul fought.

The Apostle's conflict was for the believers.
He longed to see them, among other things, possess the "full assurance of understanding." His conflict was to bring them to the place spiritually that their understanding and acknowledgement of the mystery of God led them to comfort in their hearts, knit together in love and having assurance.

When we fully understand and confessed the incarnation of Christ and its effect of uniting us into the local church. When we grasp all that is what Christ did in saving us, the result is full, final and finished assurance.
