Colossians 1:29 KJV
Whereunto I also labour, striving according to his working, which worketh in me mightily.
The Apostle used the words "labor" and "striving" to describe his ministry. But then he added this qualifier; that is was God "working in me mightily." That is what we need today; not less labor among the preachers but less labor in man's strength and more the work of God in us mightily.
This seems to be one of those constant battles we face in the flesh:
On the one hand there is the guy who refuses to do anything.
• He sits in his house claiming to wait on the Lord.
• He does not witness
• He does not pray
• He does not write
• He does not plead with souls
He misses the point of Christian service.
On the other hand there is the guy who rushes into the work of God headlong.
He is not well trained:
• He has not prayed
• He has not properly studied
Like a bull in a china shop he enters into the work of the ministry in the power of the flesh. And he causes great harm.
Coming to that spiritual place where we labor, we step out, we engage the world for Christ, but it is not us doing it at all, but God working in us mightily; that is the target we all ought to aim at.
