Many Witnesses

2 Timothy 2:2 KJV

And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.

Timothy was instructed to commit what he had received to others who would teach also. This message is passed down from preacher to preacher so that I believe I have been given the same charge and I charge those who have been ordained under me the same message.

Timothy could be assured that the message he was to deliver was the right one because it was

·         Confirmed by the many witnesses of the Old Testament prophets

·         Supported by the other apostles and because

·         He was not the only one who had heard it

Those who are given this charge today may keep on a straight course if they will

·         Get their message from the Bible

·         Confirm their message by close connection with those who charged them and

·         Submit their message to those who witnessed their calling

To move away from any of those is to fail in their charge.
