Nothing to Hate

2 Peter 2:2 KJV

And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of.

I have a young acquaintance, not yet a teenager, whose parents have lived in such wickedness that she, even at this young age, refuses to attend church and bluntly claims to hate the Lord. She is too young to know why she has such hatred for something so wonderful.

• She has no experience with church to lash out against
• Her family has no history with Christianity from which she would rebel

The fact is that her parents and parents' parents followed pernicious ways and trained her to speak evil of Christ without any real teachings about Christ.

This is in my view is the greatest indictment against the false teaching which has permeated our world. It has produced followers of its pernicious ways who are today far removed from what they would say they believe. These false professors are now producing a generation or now perhaps the second generation of people who hate Christianity because they hate the fruit of their parents' and grand parents' and great grand parents' pernicious ways.

True Christianity is nothing to hate.

I will confess that, because of so much false teaching, the best churches seem to be filled with followers of these pernicious ways.

• Some of them seek to be free from the teaching that have conformed them into the wrong image.
• Some of them are blind to their pernicious ways and just attend church but refuse to hear sound preaching.

But there are churches whose preacher and many of its members are honorable and honest people whose faith is grand and whose hope is blessed.

Christ is no one to hate.

Though there are false teachers and false believers, Jesus Christ is all holy and completely righteous. And the wisest of people follow Him.

Christ's heaven is nothing to hate.

The promise of eternal life; the hope of a home

• Free of sin
• Having no devils
• Possessing no curse

is a marvelous hope.

Those who speak evil of Christ do so having been misled.

• They speak evil of a their perception of Christianity which is false.
• They speak evil of the fruit of a kind of Christianity that is untrue and far from Jesus.
• They speak evil of the kind of Christianity that is the product of the world the flesh and the devil and not of the Lord.
