Peter 3:17 KJV
Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware
lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own
stedfastness.
The Apostle warns these believers
that it is possible to fall from their steadfastness. A believer growing in the
Lord, confident of Christ's return and professing sound doctrine may
potentially be led away with error.
It has happened that many a
once good church has fallen from their steadfastness because the members were
led away with the error of the wicked.
- It is how people I love deeply have
now fallen and allowed a once sound church to become apostate
- It is how people who know better
are led to follow a man who is not biblically qualified to be a pastor
- It is how preachers who once
proclaimed true doctrine can so quickly turn and preach a different
message
No one is immune. Anyone who
isn't on guard of such deception is likely to fall from his steadfastness. Therefore,
beloved….beware.
