This is an Err

Matthew 22:29 KJV
Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.

Two things caused the Sadducees to err:
They didn't know the Scriptures.
Though they were religious men they were not men of the book. It is possible to read the Bible and know what it says and still be in error; the Pharisees are proof of that, but these didn't even know the Scriptures.

What a mistake a man makes when he rejects the word of God either in theory by not acknowledging its message or in practice by not obeying its message or by claiming to believe it but never studying it.

They didn't know the power of God.
The Sadducees denied the doctrine of the resurrection. They refused to accept God's message of eternal life and of redemption of the soul, spirit and body.

A man makes a huge mistake when he refuses to believe in life after death; when he does not see that God is at work in our day and that His plan is consummated with eternity.

Every soul will spend that eternity either in heaven or in hell; it is an error of untold proportion to not acknowledge that truth and prepared for it.
