Isaiah 60:22 KJV
A little one shall become a thousand, and a small one a strong nation: I
the LORD will hasten it in his time.
Here is an assurance we may count
on. When God's time is set, when His plan is come to full term, God will do
what He has promised - quickly.
There are many instances in life
that can serve as an illustration that, though a thing may seem slow in coming,
when the time arrives; the thing is carried out quickly. A child's Christmas,
for instance. As the season approaches the child becomes more and more anxious
for that moment. As
- Decorations go up
- The tree is lit and
- The gifts begin to accumulate under it
sleepless nights ensue. The child
feels like that day will never get here. But Christmas does come. And in less than a moment, all is said and
done. The anticipation of Christmas is always huge compared to the actual
event.
It often feels like the day of
God's promise will never be here:
- We suffer under the hands of difficult
oppressors
- We struggle with the bonds of fleshly sin
- We strive to see souls come to believe but
fewer do not than do
As we pray and search the Word of
God, as we envision a world where God's will is done on earth as it is in
heaven, sleepless nights fall upon us. When, oh when, will His promise become
reality?
The believer is never to fear,
when his time comes, and it will come, God will hasten the fulfillment of His
promise. He is more than capable. There is nothing but His own timing holding
Him. When the time comes God will quickly and with haste keep His promise.
