Genesis 39:20 KJV
And Joseph's master took him, and put him into
the prison, a place where the king's prisoners were bound: and he was there in
the prison.
The story of Joseph reminds me, in some respects, of the situation with
Job. Things started out good, with a favored relationship with his father, but
degenerated quickly. Joseph first found himself
- Hated by his own brothers
- Then sold as a slave and
- Then thrown into prison, the victim of a
false accusation
But just like Job, Joseph's story does not end there. What appeared a
terrible tragedy turned to be a marvelous victory as Joseph, who never grew
bitter or blamed God for his circumstances, ended up in the exalted place of
second to the Pharaoh.
Things do go from bad to worse sometimes. Life can take some turns that
are heart wrenching. What’s worse, we know that the Lord said that in the latter
days it will get even harder as evil men wax worse and worse. Just remember,
our story does not end here. The finale is when Christ comes to claim His own
and then all who have been saved will be caught up together to meet Him in the
air.
Don't give up. Through
Christ the promise is that we will go from bad to worse to greatness.
