Matthew 26:2 KJV
Ye know that after two days is the feast of the
passover, and the Son of man is betrayed to be crucified.
Something the
disciples knew quite well was the day when the Passover would be celebrated. But
there was something they did not know added upon it; that Jesus would be
crucified at that time.
So many of
those things we take for granted have meanings much more significant than we
realize. We have allowed time and constant practice to overshadow the
purpose of the practice. Some things which are of a spiritual nature and some
that are more social or cultural
- Christmas and Easter
- The Lords Supper and
Baptism
- The singing of hymns
- The assembling of
saints
- Presidents' Day
- Memorial Day
- The 4th of July
We may know the
story as to what these events are about but we have lost the heart of
them.
May God remind
us of what we don't know about those important things we do know.
