Luke 21:18 KJV
But there shall not an hair of your head perish.
Now here is a striking thing; Jesus said that they would be
- Hated
- Persecute and
- Some killed
But not a hair of their head would perish.
John Gill says that this is answered in one of three ways:
- They would not perish except it be the will of
God
- They would not perish except their loss be
restored
- They would not perish but have a better life in eternity
God puts much more stock in eternal/spiritual things than men do; it is
one of our most common failings, or the cause of them.
- Our short sightedness
- Our inability to view heavenly things as having greater
weight than the earthly
Men often see ideals[1] as being more important
than life itself. Not often enough do we see eternal life as more important
than life itself.
