What Could He Do?

Psalms 56:9 KJV
When I cry unto thee, then shall mine enemies turn back: this I know; for God is for me.

The superscription says this Psalm was written when David was taken by the philistines in Gath. The first thing that hit my head was, "And David took the time to write a poem?" Recording his thoughts through song and the written word was a priority in his life and contributed greatly, I am sure, to his having a heart after God.

Think of it!

David had just fled his homeland for fear of King Saul. He ran straight into the clutches of the Philistines. He is in a classic pincer. He is surrounded. There is no good option. What could David do?

He could pray.

David confidently prayed to the Lord in the middle of this trouble because he knew that God was for him.

God is for us too.
  • God is for us to be saved
  • God is for us to be holy
  • God is for us to live victorious lives
  • God is for is to have faith despite our trials

The Christian who gets this down; who understands that God is always for him need never fear. He must only pray and trust God to deliver him in His time.
