Romans 1:16 KJV
For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it
is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew
first, and also to the Greek.
The first chapter of Romans begins on an incline climaxing with the all
saving Gospel of Jesus Christ in verse sixteen. From there the chapter takes a
sudden and steep decline into the depths of what the sin nature is capable of.
Paul's purpose,
however, is not to set a dark mood to his work but to put his work in an honest
setting. God's saving Gospel is the hope of a world that is not only lost but
becoming worse. The Gospel is
- The answer to the questions
- The light to the darkness
- The cure to the disease
That the nature of
sin has introduced into the world.
The Gospel not only
dams the flow of sin but recreates the stream into righteousness. The Gospel
message is the high point of human possibility.
No wonder the
Apostle was not ashamed.
