Luke 17:1-2 KJV
Then said he unto the disciples, It is
impossible but that offences will come: but woe unto him, through whom they
come!
It were better for him that a millstone were
hanged about his neck, and he cast into the sea, than that he should offend one
of these little ones.
It is often the argument that a person cannot forgive this person
or that because to forgive them would be to endorse an injustice. This passage
teaches something quite different. The reason we can forgive them, even if they
have offended us many times is because they will be judged.
No offense is ever really gotten away with. Either it is:
· Judged
here by some court or another
· Judged in
the spirit and they are bound to confess and ask forgiveness or else
· Judged in
eternity either in hell by the lost or through suffering shame and loss in
heaven
Faith in God's justice is the key to true forgiveness.
