Judges 15:12-13 (KJV) He Was Not Immortal

Judges 15:12-13 (KJV)
And they said unto him, We are come down to bind thee, that we may deliver thee into the hand of the Philistines. And Samson said unto them, Swear unto me, that ye will not fall upon me yourselves. And they spake unto him, saying, No; but we will bind thee fast, and deliver thee into their hand: but surely we will not kill thee. And they bound him with two new cords, and brought him up from the rock.
Hebrews chapter 9 verse 27 says, “And as it is appointed unto man once to die, but after this the judgment.”  Even a man with the strength and ingenuity of Samson, a man who knew that the Spirit of the Lord was upon him, feared death.
  • He was strong but he was not immortal
  • He wade reckless but he was not immortal
  • He was a ruler of his people but he was not immortal
  • He was able to defeat the enemy over and over but he was not immortal
In the end he met the fate of all men.
The Psalmist taught us to measure our days, to remember that we are but dust and that our life on this earth comes all too quickly to an end. Samson seems to have forgotten that.
When it is all said and done, it is not what happens in this life, but what awaits us in the next that is most important.
