Galatians 2:19 (KJV) Dead to the Law

Galatians 2:19 (KJV)
For I through the law am dead to the law, that I might live unto God.

The very law that Paul called Christians to die to, is the law that had taught Paul about that death.

• It was through the law he learned his sin nature.
• It was through the law that he learned the weakness of his flesh
• It was through the law that he discovered the wretchedness of his old man and
• It was through the law that he came to know the means of deliverance through Jesus.

Albert Barnes writes, “…by contemplating the true character of the Law of Moses itself; by considering its nature and design; by understanding the extent of its requisitions, he had become dead to it; that is, he had laid aside all expectations of being justified by it.”
