Jeremiah 52:31-34 (KJV)
And it came to pass in the seven and thirtieth year of the captivity of Jehoiachin king of Judah, in the twelfth month, in the five and twentieth day of the month, that Evilmerodach king of Babylon in the first year of his reign lifted up the head of Jehoiachin king of Judah, and brought him forth out of prison,And spake kindly unto him, and set his throne above the throne of the kings that were with him in Babylon,And changed his prison garments: and he did continually eat bread before him all the days of his life. And for his diet, there was a continual diet given him of the king of Babylon, every day a portion until the day of his death, all the days of his life.

Consider how quickly the circumstances changed for Jehoiachin.
- Many of his brethren had been killed.
- The king before him had watched his children be killed just before they burned his eyes out.
- Jehoiachin was imprisoned and would rightly have presumed prison was his “best case scenario.”
In these circumstances a man can become overwhelmed with the bad. How could he ever hope for better?
But it did get better. It got a lot better. Maybe it never got as good as being back in Jerusalem and ruling a free nation, but it got pretty good considering what it might have been.
There is no such thing as a situation so bad it can’t improve. What that means is there is always room for hope and always reason to try. There is never a good reason to give up.
Sure, a person might need to try something different if what he has tried hasn’t worked. That’s different than not trying at all.
