Hebrews 12:12-14 (KJV)
Wherefore lift up the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees; And make straight paths for your feet, lest that which is lame be turned out of the way; but let it rather be healed.Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:

My thought is on verse 13 and the phrase, “but let it rather be healed.”
Barnes takes that personally and suggests whatever in our lives is not as it ought to be, we ought to take care to make it right.
As good an application as that is, I think Gill has his finger more closely on the meaning. He says this applies to those members of the church so walking as to remove stumbling stones along the path for others.
Every assembly has those who are:
- Weak in faith
- On the fringe of the fellowship
- Embroiled in sin and
- Otherwise hurting
Gill asserts that this passage admonishes us to not leave them behind but to take whatever pains are necessary to heal them and bring them along. This seems best to fit with those verses just preceding and just following.
That said, I am moved by this thought from Gill, “God takes care of, and has a regard to such, and He would have others also…”
Those who are:
- Corrupt
- Weak
- Unstable and
- Prone to leave the paths of righteousness
these God regards. So should we.
