Mark 12:41-44 (KJV) It’s Thrown Out

Mark 12:41-44 (KJV)
And Jesus sat over against the treasury, and beheld how the people cast money into the treasury: and many that were rich cast in much. And there came a certain poor widow, and she threw in two mites, which make a farthing. And he called unto him his disciples, and saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That this poor widow hath cast more in, than all they which have cast into the treasury:For all they did cast in of their abundance; but she of her want did cast in all that she had, even all her living.
The words “cast” and “threw” are the very same Hebrew word. It means, “to throw more or less violently”. It is used of both the rich man’s abundance and the Widow’s penury.
Though each gave with varying degrees of consequence and of faith, each gave with the same expectation; that the offering was no longer theirs.
They had as much as thrown it out:
  • It was now out of their hands
  • It was the concern of someone else
This is the same expectation with which we ought to give to the Lord.
  • We give voluntarily
  • We give faithfully
  • We give abundantly and
  • We give completely,
  • With no strings attached
