Amos 8:11-12 (KJV)
Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land,
not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD:And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the LORD, and shall not find it.
This chapter began with a terrible proclamation, Amos 8:2 …. Then said the LORD unto me, The end is come upon my people of Israel; I will not again pass by them any more.
I am convinced that this should be taken in view of the Bible as a whole. God had promised never to forsake Israel. Romans chapter 11 provides some details and Revelation describes it. It is Daniel’s 70th week.
Nevertheless, there is a time; we live in it now, when God sets Israel aside to do a new work. This is the age of the church.
What is the worst judgment a people may experience this side of the grave? It is to be without the Word of God. Israel is there right now. They deny the New Testament and reject Christ as Savior.
- Try as they might
- Travel the world from synagogue to synagogue
they will not hear the truth from God’s Word. It is only to be found by:
- Coming out of Israel[1]
- Trusting Christ as Savior and
- Uniting in a New Testament church
There will come a day, and it is fast approaching, when one will be hard pressed to find the Word of God in supposed churches. Jesus said that, when He returns He will find little faith on earth. Churches are rapidly morphing into social organizations that have a religious life far removed from real dependence in God Word.
What a terrible thing it is to search for sound Bible preaching and to find none.
