Exodus 3:8 (KJV)
And I am come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land unto a good land and a large, unto a land flowing with milk and honey; unto the place of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites.
God very bluntly told Moses that he would deliver Israel out of Egypt and return them to the Promised Land and that:
- It was a good land with many blessings but
- It was also a land occupied by enemies
There were blessings awaiting them but also testing.
We may expect that blessings will come with testings. It is not because God is somehow always picking on us but because God is always interested in our improvement. We are not all right, so it is not acceptable to let us be. To give us blessings that allow for our maintenance would not be loving. It would be on the same level as just feeding your tank of goldfish. There is no expectation of growth, development or learning, only existence.
God loves us too much to let us be. God always accompanies blessings with testings so that our lives are productive, growing and abundant.
