Genesis 34:13-15 (KJV)
And the sons of Jacob answered Shechem and Hamor his father deceitfully, and said, because he had defiled Dinah their sister:And they said unto them, We cannot do this thing, to give our sister to one that is uncircumcised; for that were a reproach unto us:But in this will we consent unto you: If ye will be as we be, that every male of you be circumcised;

It is wickedness to deceive someone into committing to a spiritual exercise.
Jacob’s sons, it could be argued, did the more dastardly thing because they used the spiritual exercise as an occasion to take life. Is it not, I would reply, much more dastardly to deceive a soul into believing he is saved?
Our task and responsibility is not:
- To get as many professions of faith as possible
- To fill a building as full as possible
- To convince as many as possible to surrender to Christian service
Our responsibility is to follow Christ and tell as many as possible.
To in any way manipulate them for decisions is to, in some ways, do what Jacob’s sons did.
