Romans 6:1-2 (KJV) Don’t Take Grace For Granted

Romans 6:1-2 (KJV)
What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?
Thank God for grace that overwhelms and overcomes our sin. We would be in such a desperate place were it not for grace. We fall so short of the glory of God. We fail Him and tread upon mercy more frequently than we walk worthy. We grow in grace and, if we are not careful, sin in believing we have somehow attained unto a form of righteousness even Paul confessed he had missed.
Thank God for grace. Thank God that He looks at Christ in us and we in Christ. He sees, not our sin but Christ’s righteousness. He forgives and has already forgotten our sins: past, present and future because they have all been judged in the cross.
But does this grace free us to continue in sin? Absolutely not! The honest Christian is thankful for that grace that overcomes the consequences of sins he cannot change but he is quick to repent and turn from those sins he can change.
Grace is always grace and God is always gracious to His own. But His own ought not take that grace for granted.
