Hebrews 7:22 (KJV)
By so much was Jesus made a surety of a better testament.

We would not likely use the word surety today. We would use the word, security. It is an amount of money or an item put up to guarantee our performance of a thing. When a person makes an offer on a house for instance, he puts up earnest money to prove his sincerity.

The proof of God’s sincerity in saving those who call upon Him is Jesus. The gospel is the earnest, the security of our eternal life.

We are saved certainly because we are secured by the death, burial and resurrection of Christ.
