2 Chronicles 7:1 (KJV)
Now when Solomon had made an end of praying, the fire came down from heaven, and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices; and the glory of the LORD filled the house.

The Bible says that after Solomon’s prayer the fire came down from heaven. It was not just a fire but the fire.

Perhaps this heartens back to Leviticus 9:24

And there came a fire out from before the LORD, and consumed upon the altar the burnt offering and the fat: which when all the people saw, they shouted, and fell on their faces.

This was “a fire” from the Lord. It was their first experience with it. By Solomon’s time, however, they were familiar with that fire that came from God.

• It was not a man made fire
• It was not a natural fire

This was the fire, the same fire they had known before.

• God demonstrated it first In Leviticus 9. 
• David witnessed it at the altar in 1 Chronicles 21.  
• Elijah called it down in 1 Kings 18

The great need of our hour is the fire from heaven. We have seen churches aflame with an emotional fire stirred up by the hand of men. We have witnessed revivals of church attendance brought on by events such as great storms or terrible acts against our country. What we need most desperately is a revival directly from heaven. And I am sure, when we see it, we will know it.
