Luke 12:33-34 (KJV)
Sell that ye have, and give alms; provide yourselves bags which wax not old, a treasure in the heavens that faileth not, where no thief approacheth, neither moth corrupteth. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

I was struck by that phrase, “bags which wax not old.”
Everything I have ever owned eventually got old.
I have had animals that have gotten old.
My favorite dog so far was Shred Row. I remember when my parents brought him home as a puppy. I was in 8th or maybe 9th grade. When I graduated High school Shed Row came with me. Circumstances involving the nature of a young man gaining an education dictated Shed Row had to go back to my parent’s house, where he eventually died. But we had some great times, Shed Row and me.

I bought a brand new Chevy short box pickup in 1978 and it got old.
It had less than twenty miles on it when I drove it off the lot at Salee Chevrolet in Milton-Freewater, OR. But things started breaking before it was out of warranty. I kept it for almost twenty years. When I sold it about all that was left was the drivetrain and cab.

Shall I go on? No matter the quality, no matter the nature, no matter the value. Everything on this earth waxes old.
Jesus must have meant something else. There must be a kind of treasure that is of another world; one where things are eternal.
That’s the bag I am after.
